DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE BUILT PLANT TISSUE CULTURE LABORATORY TO BOOST AND INCREASE FOOD YIELD IN Z.N.

The Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory functions mainly on research and production of plant tissues. The Laboratory’s main production is the micro propagation of lakatan bananas, orchids, anthorium, potatoes, etc.

Engr. Jose Cadag, Jr., the laboratory in-charge that they have already completed and perfected the study and propagation of lakatan bananas here in the Province of Zamboanga del Norte and is now focusing on the micro propagation of the different kinds of orchids to attain best result. 

Cadag explained that the Department of Agriculture, as their head office allocates them a 1- hectare land for the experimentation of the cultured lakatan bananas.

According to him that the office has 7 agriculturists specializing the project including him and an accountant.
